Indoor Batting Practice
(using the mini Wiffle® ball)
Indoor hitting is possible with the mini Wiffle® ball and lightweight netting. If you have room in a heated garage or basement you can hit during inclement weather and also train during the winter off season. You can live pitch or machine pitch your batting practice.
The mini Wiffle®ball is the best choice for indoor practice because it is soft (compared to some other brands) & lightweight. You can partition off an area to hit in by hanging lightweight netting. Soft toss and the QuickSwing require only a catch net and a small hitting area.
Serious improvement can occur during the winter off season hitting practice. Don't sit idle the whole winter. Work on your hitting mechanics without the need to “perform” in an official game. Work on your weaknesses and show up for the spring season -an improved hitter.
Commercial batting cages are expensive and the pitching machines in them may not even throw curve balls. A Personal Pitcher Pro and part of a basement will do a better job than a commercial cage in hitting improvement.

Note: To utilize the Personal Pitcher to it's fullest capacity, you need between 20' to 30' distance from machine to home plate (see link). The pre-set curve ball setting requires approx. 25' for most hitters (more distance for the youngest hitters). In cages shorter than 30' working distance, you will be limited to using the lower speed setting(s), and you may not be able to use the pre-set curve ball setting in the cage (it can be used elsewhere though).
