A better way
You don’t have to hit softballs in practice in order to hit them in a game. In fact, if you practice hitting the small mini polyball for batting practice, you will greatly improve your hand eye coordination. Hitting the small ball will help your hitting focus and when it comes to game time, a regulation softball will look so big that you cannot miss.
Upward pitch trajectory
The ideal softball training machine should pitch from the release point of a regulation game pitch, in an upward trajectory (unlike baseball, where the ball is coming in a downward trajectory). The Sandlot Slugger comes with a built in stand which enables it to be pitched from the ground in an upward trajectory similar to that of fast pitch softball
Use it indoors or outdoors
A good pitching machine for softball will allow you to practice hitting indoors (in a garage or basement) or outdoors in the backyard. With the mini polyball you can hang some lightweight netting and clear out part of the basement or garage.
Pitch at game distance or closer
With a top speed of 60mph (70mph with the Turbo option), you can pitch at regulation game distance, or with the flip of a switch, tweak it down to 15 mph and pitch at closer distances for hitting in a basement or garage.

If you would like to raise the machine up, it will mount on a standard camera tripod. In fact, it can be used for both baseball hitting practice and softball hitting practice if there are more than one ball players in the family. Put the pitching machine on the tripod stand for the baseball hitting, use the built in stand for softball hitting.
