Pitching Tendencies
Hitters need to go to the plate with a plan. One of the things a hitter should take into account when he is hitting is the pitch count. Pitch counts will often dictate how a pitcher is going to pitch. There are general tendencies that pitcher's follow when pitching. Listed below are the general tendencies of pitchers and the type of pitch that is thrown for the pitch count listed.

PITCHING TENDENCIES
You can usually look fast when you are ahead in the count - slow when you are behind.
1. Fastball Counts
3-0, 3-1, 3-2, 2-0, 2-1, 1-0, 0-0
2. Off speed Counts:
0-1, 0-2, 1-2,

3. Neutral Counts:
1-1, 2-2
Notes:
Pitchers will throw with their strength - even if it is your strength as a hitter. Good fastball pitchers have worked long and hard on their fastball, they are proud of their fast ball - you will see that fastball a lot, you can count on that.
Even counts: 1-1, 2-2, are more likely to see fastball than off speed.
With two strikes, the hitter should not be sitting on a pitch anyway - but rather reacting to the pitcher's pitch. If you remove the two strike counts from the above you will see that a good "default" hitting plan is to sit on the fastball until the hitter has two strikes.
As the game progresses, and you see that certain pitching patterns are evident ( example: middle of the line up hitters may be getting off speed pitches to start or hitters down in the line up may be getting little respect and therefore a lot of fastballs ), you will adjust your hitting plan based on real time game observations.
